Product Review: Curel Sebum Care Series

Is your skin sensitive?

Did you know that even without sensitive skin, excess sebum can generate skin sensitivity?

Usually, oily or sensitive skinned people tends to choose facial products for skin sensitivity. However, it is not enough. The excess sebum generated will deteriorate when skin gets more alkaline, hence causing flare-ups within the skin layers.

In a nutshell, it is important to choose facial products that controls both skin sensitivity and sebum reduction.

Curél Sebum Care Range

Curél is actually Japan's number 1 brand for Asian sensitive skin, and they had just introduced a skin care especially for oily and sensitive skin or a combination of both!

The range consists of:

  1. Foaming Wash
  2. Lotion
  3. Moisture Gel
All of which offers the essentials to properly manage both skin sensitivity and sebum secretion.

Do you know that the main cause of sensitive skin is the lack of ceramide?
Ceramide is actually an essential ingredient in the skin as it replenishes and retains moisture, which strengthens the skin's resilience (natural barrier) against external irritants.

Furthermore, the main cause of oily skin is secretion of sebum.
Diet or any changes in the hormones causes the secretion of sebum. If not thoroughly removed, it can damage the skin in a long run.

I've been using this product for about 2 weeks now and I must say I'm impressed. The texture is light and not greasy at all for the sebum care lotion, hence you can spread it on your face really easily and it's not dense at all. The moisture gel is a little sticky but it dries off pretty quickly as well.

Instructions on how to use:

After removing all makeup -
  1. Wash face thoroughly and use foaming wash on wet face. DO NOT shake the bottle.
  2. After shower, 2 - 3 squirts from the lotion and rub on face. The lotion takes a longer time to dry off so just keep patting it in with a clean hand.
  3. The lotion allows the moisture gel to set in quickly, hence do about 2-3 pumps of the moisture gel and repeatedly pat it onto face.
So I tried this product for about 2 weeks and I don't really see much difference but the redness around my cheek area has definitely gone down after using this product. However, it does feel a little itchy when I use the moisture gel. I'm guessing its because my skin can't take the chemicals in the skin and maybe its a bit too strong for me but... to each their own I guess? But it did help in a way la. So, the product did make my skin feel matt, so it didn't actually feel oily or itchy anymore. Also, as I'm in an air-conditioned room like.. almost everyday, my skin has to be in a good condition and not dry off and this product definitely helps with that so I do kind of recommend to people whose skin is not ad sensitive to chemicals as mine is.

#3 Left photo well... my eyes were swollen that day
