Taipei, Taiwan 2016: Day 1

Hey guys! It's... been awhile since I actually posted a genuine post. I do apologise, I've been busy with... stuff.

Anyways, if you've been following my Instagram [Pun definitely intended], I took a short 5 days holiday to Taipei Taiwan with le friend, so I decided that the trip was definitely worth documenting and listing it's way in my blog. Anyways, hope you enjoy the entry!

I have Careless Whisper on loop, let's do this wtf.

Met Chulin at Changi Airport Terminal 2 around 11am and checked in, even though our flight was at like... 1pm. Only cuz nobody was there to send us off and well... we were hungry wtf.
#1

#2 Mandatory caffeine fix before her flight. Always.

Anyways, after eating at a random donburi place, we decided to just walk around the many duty free stores till it was almost time to board.

#3 You can tell I wasn't prepared

#4 .... I apologise but I regret nothing, Ponyo.

#5

Time to board the flight! We booked for Tiger Air cuz well... It's cheap and we were on a budget wtf.

#6

Fortunately for Chulin she brought her 3DS to occupy her throughout the entire flight while I was literally stuck doing nothing except sleep and music fml. I ended up just watching her play her game for almost half of the flight wtf.

#7 The sky decided to be fabulous that day I guess.

Anyways, when we finally landed, we took the Airport Bus towards Taipei Main Station.

The Airport Bus was relative cheap, it cost us about NTD$300 for both of us to head to Taipei Main Station area. Only thing about the Bus that ticked me off was that they don't really help you carry your luggage to the storage compartment.

Don't get me wrong. I doubt Chulin and I are the pampered type, but damn luggage was heavy and we both are well... really small wtf. Took a lot of effort for both of us to squeeze the bloody huge luggage into the storage compartment. This happened as well when we were unloading the luggage. Dude just stood there and watched us struggle to pull the luggage out.

No pictures because we totally struggled here omfg. Anyways, after reaching Taipei Main Station, we took about 15 minutes walking back and forth and up and down escalators before we finally found the fucking TICKETING MACHINE OHMYGOD.

Taipei has a really cool system where they use 'coins' instead of paper tickets we have here in Singapore. The coin can be 'scanned' when tapped in, and the coins are usually inserted in order to tap out. This is so ingenious like seriously this means that the tickets does not have to be kept with us or thrown out? The coins can just be recycled over and over again omfg. Okay I'm diverting. Back to the topic.

#8 Ximending

After boarding the train and getting off at Ximen, we took another half an hour to find our hotel wtf. We booked The Longstay Guest Hotel, which was at a more secluded part of Ximen and is above a fruits store.

I don't have picture directions towards the hotel. One tip is to always have Google Maps ready, it helps alot.

But I do remember that you have to pass by a Kpop corn chicken store and once you see the Xining/Sining Road sign, turn right and just keep on walking straight.

You'll walk past a Seiko, WHO AU, Piggu or Piggy something like that but it had a pig on it wtf, and a 7/11.

It took about 5 minutes of walking straight before we found the hotel.

Anyways, we finally checked in to the hotel room thank goodness.

#9 Pretty cool for a budget hotel

#10 Bathroom
One bad thing about the hotel is that they only provide one hotel room card, hence they do encourage you to leave your room key card with them before you leave the hotel to explore, as you would need to pay a fee if you lose your room card.

Anyways, we finally dumped our bags and proceeded to find dinner/supper.

We took about 2 hours to find dinner because most of the restaurants in Ximending were Japanese and we did want to try Taiwan's food.

Well we gave up and just settled for street food wtf.

#11 The corn dog stall just happened to be right next to us

#12 I call it the 'Flamethrower Grilled Steak'
#13 The infamous Dream Colour/Colour changing drink

#14

#15 Bubble milk tea, about NTD$50
Raided the 7/11 near us and bought a bunch of stuff to try.

#16 Am I even allowed to post alcohol in my posts
#17 Omfg this was so good wtf it's oyster omelette flavoured chips I bought like 4 back wtf.

We didn't do much on the 1st day since it was pretty late and we were pretty tired from all that ridiculous walking.

#18

I guess that's it for Day 1! I'll post about Day 2, hopefully by tomorrow, if I remember... or if I am not lazy wtf.

Anyways, enjoy the post everyone and I'll see you soon for Day 2! Annyeong!

#19 Chulin bought some cool heart shaped ciggs
