Taipei, Taiwan 2016: Day 2

Burning Our Hands Off

As usual, woke up around 7.30am and just lazed around till about 8.30am, where I proceeded to my morning routine of waking a sleepy Chulin up omfg.

Showered first and got ready while waiting for her slow ass.

#1 Makeup of the day

Anyways, when she was done, we went for some good old famous Ah Zong Mee Sua! It just happened to be located almost near our hotel, about 5 minutes of walking.

If you wanna know how to get to this location, once you exit out of Exit 6 of Ximen, U-turn and walk straight till you see an Airline sign.

Once you see the Airline sign, turn left and walk straight ahead, Ah Zong Mee Sua should be on your left, next to a uniform shop.

#2

The line was pretty short since we got there around the time they opened so yay for us.

#3 TWD80
We got a small bowl to share since Chulin's stomach is quite small and I don't usually eat heavy food for breakfast anyways.

One tip, the Mee Sua when given to you is piping hot wtf so make sure you get someone who has heat proof hands [like me] to hold it.

There's a corner where there are an assortment of sauces and chilli to add to your mee sua to flavour it to your liking. I suggest going easy on the chilli though... I added like 1/8 of a teaspoon and nearly died from the heat wtf.

#4
But then again a warm bowl of mee sua in the morning is soooo goooood.

#5
After finishing the bowl, we proceeded to head over to Wilbeck Coffee!

Honestly we were supposed to go cafe hopping but I have no idea why our luck damn suay that day we only found 1 'cafe' and the other places were either rented out or cannot find at all wtf.

#6 I swear the jacket was there for decoration it was not cold at all

Before we left for Taipei Main Station, I reallllllly really wanted to try Mister Donuts cause... Why not. Watching Yuka Kinoshita eat it made me crave for it in a real creepy way.

#7 Original glazed ponde ring and kinako ponde ring

#8 UGHHHHHHHH

Guys, I love donuts. I really do. This. BEATS. EVERYTHING. It's so soft, chewy and it literally has a subtle sweetness to it from the donut itself. WHY ISN'T THIS IN SINGAPORE YET.

If you do buy it, I highly recommend the Kinako [Soybean powder] one. It's not too sweet, but gives a slight flavour that really balances out. I find the original glazed abit too sweet, but then again, personal opinion.

Anyways, on to Wilbeck Coffee!

We took the train to Taipei Main Station and proceeded south to Gongyuan Road. Once you walk straight, you'll notice Xiyang Road on the opposite side, so just take the traffic light and cross over, and keep walking straight, past the Family Mart till you reach Wilbeck Coffee.

The interior was beautiful omg. It was filled with so many vintage stuff I totally had a vintage moment here.

#10

Anyways, we ordered the recommended Light Coffee Latte [TWD80] and boy was it good.

#11

I noticed that in Taiwan they tend to make real bitter coffee, like legit bitter. I took one sip and I'm like nope. But this latte isn't so bad, almost comparable to the sweetness in Singapore. Only that... the taste is better wtf.

Alright, so we went over to Zhongxiao Dunhua to find another cafe called Longtimeago Cafe, however.... we took almost half an hour to find it before we just gave up and settled at a nearby mall wtf.

No photos cause we were deadass tired.

Anyways, we stopped at the mall and decided to have Japanese for lunch while we rest our aching legs.

#12 MEATTTT
After stuffing ourselves, we decided to screw it and just make our way to the next cafe, RAHDesign Cafe, which was located at Dazhi Station.

.... Turns out it was rented out on that day fuck our lives.

At this point we were just plain annoyed so we just took the train back to Zhongxiao Fuxing to buy some Dorayakis.

#13 One of the best I've ever tried
I do suggest you get 6 in one box and just share it throughout your stay. We got 2 original, matcha and coffee. [TWD500]

Anyways, still feeling kinda dejected, we headed back to Ximen to go back to our hotel.

BUT LO AND BEHOLD.

Guess what we saw.

No really. Guess it.

How bout I give you a hint.

#14

Can you guess what it is?

IT'S GRILLED MOCHI WTF.

Omg I can't believe we actually bumped into it before heading back to the hotel wtf.

We decided to just buy it and eat it on the way, since it was like freaking ass cheap wtf like TWD30 only.

One tip though.

#15 Brown Sugar Mochi

#16 Black Sesame Mochi
Be sure to buy like... one at a time. We didn't know that it has to be eaten on the spot, like we literally thought they would package it for us wtf but no.

... So we had piping hot mochi on our hands while we mustered all our tahan to try and finish it there and then.

The brown sugar one was really good though wtf.

Anyways, we got back to the room and just laid there and watched Batman till it was time for dinner wtf.

The bad thing about Ximending is that the area is heavily influenced by Japanese culture. Hence, most of the restaurants there are Japanese.

We gave up hunting again and just settled for a random Japanese shop next to Sushi Express.

#17 Chulin's gyudon with tamago

#18 My er... pork cutlet with cheese
It was alright. I guess. I mean it was pretty cheap so... mai hiam la.

After stuffing ourselves, we proceeded to buy more Dream Colour drinks wtf.

#19 Milk tea and Butterfly pea juice + milk
And Ice Cream.

#20 Melon + Matcha. The worst combination possible.

#21 Matcha soft serve
That was it for Day 2 I guess! Not much since most of the cafes we wanted to visit were closed, but I guess there's more to come for Day 3.

#22

It was a real shitty day. Pun intended.

In the meantime, annyeong!
